Priest -another delay

That’s right, another delay in favor of 3-D. Seems it’s the latest craze in Hollywood. I agree with what the writer said at the end of the article though, it does seem quite amusing of what it will be up against.

Sony Screen Gems has opted to push back the adaptation of Hyung Min-Woo’s “Priest.”

According to Superhero Hype, the new release date for “Priest” will be on May 13, 2011. “Priest” was originally going to be released this year on August 27, but was subsequently pushed back to January 2011 when it was decided that the film will be converted into 3-D.

Based on Min-Woo’s original manga series, “Priest” stars Paul Bettany as a renegade warrior priest who defies the church and teams up with a young sheriff (Cam Gigandet) and a priestess (Maggie Q) to save his kidnapped niece from a group of dangerous vampires. Karl Urban, Lily Collins, Steven Moyer, Brad Dourif and Christopher Plummer round out the cast.

“Priest” is directed by Scott Stewart (“Legion”), a former ILM staffer who replaced Andrew Douglas on the project.

Earlier this year, Stewart spoke with MTV News about how Min-Woo worked closely with him on the adaptation, even though the movie departs from the original story of the manga.
